BIGGEST (KNOWN) GALAXY OF THE UNIVERSE.

There are about 100 billion galaxies in our universe and for almost 13 billion years they have been present in groups around each other. Some galaxies are very new and beautiful and some are very old. Some galaxies are very small whereas some are very giants. The smallest galaxy is "Dwarf Galaxy. It is spread over just 200 light years. Only one large star cluster has this size. Our galaxy "Milky Way's" diameter is nearly 105,700 light years. But what is the largest galaxy?

Well Friends, It's answer is IC 1101.

IC 1101 lies in a constellation named Serpens. Its diameter is 600,000 light years and it has a mass of about 100 trillion stars. But most of it mass is in the form of Dark Matter. It was discovered by Frederick William Herschel. This galaxy is 50 times more bigger and 2000 more massive than our Milky Way galaxy.

IC 1101 has spent most of its lifetime in collisions with other galaxies and with these collisions it increased its size.

This galaxy is yellow in color. The color of a galaxy tells a lot about it. If the color of a galaxy is blue, it means that the galaxy is still new, there are lots of new stars in it and if any galaxy is yellow, it means that the galaxy is now in its last stage.
